DIY Bunny 30/03/2012

Good Afternoon All,

Well I managed to find homes for all my purchases – just!  Now I need to actually get down to making some cards.  So, here’s one that I’ve done using the challenge guidelines from The Crafty Pad and Here Come The Boys this week.  The Crafty Pad have provided a layout to use and they would also like to see a bunny on the card, and Here Come The Boys would like to see some DIY.  Seeing as that’s what a lot of us do over the Easter Holidays, I thought I would combine the two together!

I’ve used a decoupaged image of “Marshmallow” from the Daisy and Dandelion range.  The wood effect backing paper is by “imaginisce”, which I just happened to have in my stash.  The other couple of papers are also from the Daisy and Dandelion range.  I’ve used some of my nestabilities for matting and layering and I’ve stamped and embossed the sentiment.  I’ve then finished the card off with a few screw top brads.

Having done the first card, I then decided to do a girlie version as well, but to make this one into an easel card. I’ve used a stamped image which I’ve coloured in with promarkers.  The background papers are from Basic Grey and again I’ve used some nestabilities to do my matting and layering.  I made the flower up myself using two different punches and some card candy.  But this one is just for fun 🙂

Anyway, that’s it for now, will enter these challenges before it’s too late and I’ll be back again soon.

been shopping… 25/03/2012

Good Morning All,

No cards today just a quick piccie of the things I bought at the NEC!  Spent far too much money, as always, but he ho!

We went on the Friday with some friends of ours who came up from Essex for the weekend.  We had a lovely day, took our time, and visited almost every stall, I think!  At least it felt like it by the end of the day 😛

So haven’t really had time to do any crafting this week and now I need to find homes for all my new stash before I can start anything else!  So best get cracking, but will be back again soon

Mother’s Day 18/03/2012

Good Afternoon All,

Well for my Mother’s Day creation, I decided to do something other than a card.  I saw this idea on Create and Craft recently – it’s a banner, which I thought my Mum could hang up in her craft room 🙂

I’ve used Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles to cut and emboss some cream coloured card, which I’ve then inked with Tattered Rose Distress Ink whilst the die was still in place.

The letters have been cut on my Cricut using the Art Noveau cartridge.  The flowers and the leaves are also Spellbinder dies, and I’ve centred the flowers with some cream coloured roses from the Hobby House.

I felt it needed a bit of bling, so I added some self adhesive clear gems in a swirly fashion, just to make it sparkle a bit!

I’ve attached the three rectangles together with some cream coloured rafia, which I’ve just threaded through the holes along  the top of each rectangle.  Just thought it would be nice to do something different for a change!

And I’m going to try and enter this into the following challenges:-

Moving Along with the Times – Special Lady

Papertake Weekly – One for the Girls

The Crafty Pad – The Perfect Pair

Anyway, enjoy Mother’s Day and I’ll be back again soon

crop day challenge 3 12/03/2012

Filed under: Crop Days,Spellbinders,Stampin Up — rachelscraftyfolder @ 11:06 am

Good Morning All,

Yesterday was our March crop day and this time Kay set the challenge of a Mother’s Day Card – bearing in mind that’s next weekend – this wasn’t a bad idea!

So, I thought I would give this Pop-up Bouquet card a go.  I saw it in the Craft Stamper magazine back in February.  I tried a rough mini version first to see how it worked and thought it was really cool!  So this is my second attempt.

I’ve used Spice Cake papers from Stampin Up, Spellbinders dies and some little flowers that were in my stash.

Basically you need to cut 7 flower shapes out, glue them together in specific places and then attach them to the base card in order to create the pop-up effect.  Once you get the hang of it, it is a lot easier than it looks – promise.

I kept the front of the card very simple as I think there is a lot going on with the papers and on the inside with the flowers.  I still need to add a tag to the inside with some nice words on it, just to finish it off.

Unfortunately as my Mum is part of our little crop group and obviously reads my blog, I can’t use it for her, so

I’ll need to get cracking on another card 😉

Anyway, best go, working later

Back again soon

disconnected… 04/03/2012

At last – Good Morning All,

I have been disconnected from the www for a week, so no e-mails, no internet access, no challenge blogs, or crafty blogs – OMG! I have been quite lost without it!  Anyway, back up and running now, so thought I ought to try and get back on track again with my blogging 🙂

You’d have thought that I would have made loads of cards whilst not being able to surf the net, but actually I’m a bit behind.  However, I have nearly managed to finish this one.

Using 2 5×7 card blanks, and attaching them together, I’ve created a substantial tri-fold card. I matted and layered some Craftwork Cards papers onto some pink card and then onto the black base layers, which have been cut with my new nesties – romantic rectangles (they’re lovely). The silhouettes are die cuts which I got from Die Cut Genie and then I’ve just added some odd tabs topped with some card candy.  The sentiments are also from Craftwork Cards and I’ve just matted and layered these onto some circles of pink and black. I still need to add a sentiment on the back and I might add a little bit of bling?  We’ll see!

A bit short and sweet, but soooo much to catch up on, so will be back again soon
