How old….? 27/05/2012

Good Morning All

Well my Dad is 75 years old today and this is the card that I have made for him.¬† I’ve taken the design from a card Sue Wilson had on display at Ally Pally last year as it is quite appropriate for my Dad, he likes trains! ūüėÄ

I’ve used an 8×8 card blank, otherwise I wouldn’t have fitted it all on!¬† All of the stamped elements are from the Creative Expressions Vintage plates,¬†and then everything else is Tim Holtz products, the papers, inks and the dies.¬† Absolutely love Tim Holtz!

The cog wheels have been die cut and then embossed with the distress embossing ink and powders, which gives them a very real rough feel and uneven coverage, which is really quite authentic.

I’m going to enter this into the following challenges:-

Allsorts – Happy Birthday to someone Special

Charisma Cardz – No Flowers Allowed

Crafty Catz – Card for a Man

Creative Card Crew – Dimension

Here Come the Boys – Anything Goes

One Stop Craft Challenge – One for the Boys

Anyway, we’re off to Coombe Abbey later¬†for a posh Afternoon Tea to celebrate¬†Dad’s milestone, and if the weather stays like it is, it will be super duper ūüôā

Will be back again soon

Triple Easel Card 23/05/2012

Filed under: Easel Card,Spellbinders,Tatty Ted — rachelscraftyfolder @ 6:38 pm

Good Evening All

This will be a quick post this evening, as I’m absolutely shattered – it’s been a long day!

I was asked by my friend Sonia, to test her instructions for a triple easel card, the attached photo is the result.¬† The photo isn’t brilliant for some reason, but I can guarantee that Sonia’s tutorial instructions are and they can¬†be obtained via her website – Sonia’s Crafty Patch.

I used a different die to Sonia, but the process and the result is exactly that same.

Anyway I hope you like and if so, pop along and have a look ūüėÄ

That’s all for tonight, but I will be back again soon

Mr & Mrs 19/05/2012

Good Morning All

Over at Tuesday Alchemy ¬†their challenge is “Happy Wedding” and as I sold my last wedding card the other day, this was quite a timely challenge¬†ūüôā

I’ve used an A5 card blank and the layout of the card is from the current Mojo Monday challenge.¬† I’ve kept it very clean and simple using only gold mirri and white card, but have added interest to the white card by piercing holes in the bottom layer and embossing the next layer up.

The image is a stamp from Bild malarna and I’ve coloured this in with my Promarkers.¬† The sentiment is from a “Stampin Up” set.¬† The¬†ivy leaves have been done with an X Cut punch and emboss punch and the flowers were in my stash!

I’m not going to babble on like I did last time as I need to sort myself out for work later on today, but I shall enter this card into the two challenges above and see what happens!

Back again soon

Crop Day Challenge 5 13/05/2012

Good Evening All

Well today was our monthly crop day, and this time my Mum set the challenge whereby we could only use Black & White, and we must have a square and a circle somewhere on the card!

My first card of the day was this one.¬† I have embossed some white card with a musical notes embossing folder for my background, which¬†I’ve then layered onto some black card and placed onto an A5 card blank.¬† The stamped image is from the Nostalgia set of stamps from Papermania, which were designed by John Byars.¬† I cut the image out with a square nestie, and left it in the die whilst I inked around the edges¬†with Black Soot distress ink.¬† I think it¬†makes it look¬†quite atmospheric!¬† This has then been matted onto some black card.

The “records” have been made by stamping a circular sentiment (these ones are from Lily of the Valley – I think) onto some white card, which has then¬†been cut out using the¬†right size circle nestie.¬† I’ve then cut a larger circle of black and put the sentiment in the middle – looks just like the old singles you used to buy from Woolworths.¬† Showing my age ūüėÄ

Whilst I was laying out the card, before sticking anything down – I’ve learnt to do this over the years – I suddenly had a moment of wisdom and decided that my records needed to have “sleeves”, so I grabbed some white vellum and made two little pockets for my records.¬† I even cut little circles out of the middle, so you can see the label!

Anyway, I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:-

Allsorts – Man or Boy

Cards for Men – Kicking Back

That Craft Place – Monochromatic

One Stop Craft Challenge – Monochrome

Fingers crossed ūüôā

Will be back again soon

Sunflowers 09/05/2012

Good Evening All,

I thought a cheery card was in order this evening, what with all this blooming rain!

I treated myself to a new set of dies from Nestabilities a couple of weeks ago and thought it was about time¬†I had a play and see what transpired.¬† They are¬†Shapeabilities Sunflowers 2 and I think they are absolutely fab ūüėÄ

I’ve just used some random yellow card from my stash, cut two of each layer and inked them up whilst they were in the die with some Scattered Straw distress ink.¬† The centre section I rubbed over a little with a file to rough it up a bit and it’s quite effective!

The background papers are from the Boofle Paper Pack from Docrafts and the “Happy Birthday” have been cut on my Cricut.

A very simple card but I was really quite chuffed with how the flowers have come out.¬† I’m going to try them in white as I think they may make a really lovely daisy.

So will be back again soon

Gorjuss Girlie 06/05/2012

Filed under: Gorjuss Girls,Spellbinders,Stampin Up — rachelscraftyfolder @ 5:06 pm

Good Evening All,

I have been asked to make a card¬†that has something to do with books!¬† So I¬†trawled through my craft room, and¬†managed to find some Gorjuss Girl images, one of which has her standing on some books – yippee ūüėÄ

I decided I would use the current Mojo Monday Challenge layout, but try a circular card for a change.¬† I made the base card by cutting 2¬†Grand Scalloped Circle dies and just attaching them together.¬† The base black circle has been glittered around the edge, but I don’t think it shows up very well.¬† The¬†papers are from¬†Stampin Up, and the ribbon is just one from my stash.¬† The base for the image has been cut using one of my Martha Stewart¬†punches.

Anyway, I have to go and get on with some other bits and pieces, but I shall be back again soon

The Great British Weather… 04/05/2012

Filed under: Challenges,Dimensions Fourth Stamps,Portobello Road — rachelscraftyfolder @ 11:15 am

Good Morning All

This is probably a little bit of a cheeky card, but when I read the challenge over at CupCake Craft Challenges, the Great British weather is what sprung to my mind! ūüėÄ

So I dug out my Dimensions Fourth Wrinklies Beach Party stamps and set about making this card.

I’ve layered up the¬†background paper, which is from the Portobello Road collection, onto some red card from my stash.¬†¬†The images have been coloured using my Promarkers, as has the background on which they sit.¬† I stuck with using red, white and blue to keep in with the british theme.¬† The sentiment is also from the Wrinklies stamp set and the buttons are from the Portobello Road collection.

I was going to send it to my brother, for his birthday on Monday, but I didn’t complete it quick enough to¬†get it in the post, so I’ve had to send him a different card!

Bit short and sweet today, but I’m off to see “The King and I” musical with some friends this afternoon, so best go and get ready!

Have a great weekend

Back again soon
