crop day challenge 8 27/08/2012

Filed under: Crop Days — rachelscraftyfolder @ 5:35 pm

Good Evening All

Yesterday was our monthly crop day and this time round I had set the challenge whereby you had to use peel offs for your cards.  I think it gave each of us something to think about. It’s silly really as most of our earlier cards, when we were learning how to craft were done using peel offs, but now we’ve grown a bit with our skills, we actually found it quite testing 😐

The first one I did was the fishing scene, its basically a black peel off placed (with great difficulty!) onto white card and then I’ve coloured the background with my promarkers.  The second one I did (although I never actually got round to mounting it onto a card) was the silhouette trees.  The peel off has been placed onto a double sided adhesive sheet and then I’ve used my gilding flakes to create the background.  Both of these ideas were learnt from Dawn Bibby a few years ago, when we attended one of her residential weekends.

The other two cards are very simple ones, I’ve matted and layered some mirri card with some white card which has been embossed and placed the butterfly peel offs on top.  Sometimes simple is best 🙂

I have to say, we had a great day and each of us managed at least three cards – which is quite good going for us lot, taking into account the nattering and the tea drinking!

Anyway, I shall be back again soon

Arsenal Fan 22/08/2012

Good Evening All

It seems to have been a very long day today for some reason, but I vowed I would put an entry on here, so here I am, watching Midsomer Murders at the same time, having just dashed round and done some shopping!  All go, eh 😐

So tonight I have a card for an Arsenal fan which I have been asked to make.  I’ve used the layout from Here Come The Boys this week and an 8×8 card.  The background paper and the image have been printed using the Football Mascots CD Rom.  A very useful disc if you know a few football fans!  I’ve used it quite a bit for various friends and colleagues.  I’ve printed the image so that it makes a pyramage topper and the football has been mounted on foam pads to make it stand proud of the card.  The green paper is actually metallic, (although you can’t tell in the photo) giving it a little bit of bling, even though it’s for a boy!

Well, it must be time for a cup of tea, so I shall crack on, enter this into the challenge and sort some other bits and bobs before I get myself off to bed 🙂

Back again soon

my first digi stamp 10/08/2012

Good Evening All,

I know it’s been a while, but work has kinda taken over lately 😦  I have been making some cards, honestly,  but I just haven’t had the time to post.  Anyway, finally got a little of bit time this evening, so thought I’d best get on with it!

This is the first time I have used a digi stamp, and OMG aren’t they a brilliant idea.  I printed off quite a large image, and coloured it in with promarkers – very carefully coz I didn’t know whether they would bleed, but no, no problem at all.  Fantastic!  I made an 8×8 twisted easel card from some grey card stock, the check paper was in my stash, along with the black ribbon.  The star, “21” and “son” have been cut out using my cricut and the heart at the top is a peel off, which I’ve then cut round and used some black peel off letters to put in the words “you rock”.  The stopper for the easel is just a large brad, put through the ribbon with a peel off on top.

I am so impressed with the digi stamp, I bought four more 😀 !

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Crafty Catz – Anything Goes

Here Come The Boys – Boys Toys

Papertake Weekly – Anything Goes

Thanks for visiting and I promise I’ll be back again soon
