Spooky…. 26/10/2012

Good Afternoon All,

I promised I’d be back with the efforts of our last crop.  I did actually manage to make two cards, but this one got finished whereas the other one still needs some titivating!

My mum set the challenge this time round and chose “Halloween”.  Can’t say I’ve done a Halloween card before, so had to really hunt through my stash to see what I had, if anything!  Thankfully I found my Polkadoodles Sundae of Seasons CD, which has some really cute images on it, which can be printed in colour or as a digi stamp allowing you to colour them in yourself.  I decided to cheat and use the coloured images.  But I did get my inks out to do my background.

I’ve used a plain black base card, and then layered up with a lime green card and bright orange card.  Both have been scratched around the edges with my Tim Holtz distressing tool and inked lightly with black.  The orange card has been stamped with the lovely large spiders web, which I think is from the Magnolia range and then the little spider is a Stampin Up stamp, to which I’ve added some googly eyes to make it less scary!  I don’t do spiders under normal circumstances 😐

The stamps were all borrowed from my friend Sonia on the day, who came with all sorts of bits and pieces to do with Halloween, including some rather strange tasting sweets!  All good fun and games as usual.

Anyway, I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:-

Moving Along with the Times – too cute to spook

The Crafty Pad – use an animal

The Pink Elephant – Halloween

Totally Papercrafts – Spooky Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone – hope nothing too spoooooky happens 🙂

Good Morning All

Well my plan to stay on track didn’t last long did it?  I have had a ridiculous couple of weeks.  Work has just been silly busy, haven’t managed to get home on time once, which means my card making goes out the window I’m afraid!

Did manage to squeeze in the day at Kettering last Saturday though, with Mum, Kay and Sonia, which was great.  Bought a few bits and pieces, as you do 😉  We also had our crop on the Sunday, but I’ll tell you about that another time!

Anyway, enough babbling – this card actually started with the butterfly, which once sat in a bouquet of flowers.  The peachy glitter determined my colour combination and the current Mojo Monday sketch gave me my layout.  The papers are from Kanban and I’ve teamed them with some grey and peach card.  I’ve used my nesties to cut the circles, the tab, the leaves, and the flower and the swirls are Marianne dies.  And once I’d got going, it seemed to come together quite nicely.

I’m going to put this card forward for the following challenges:-

Mojo Monday

One Stop Craft Challenge

And with any luck I will be back again soon

Good Afternoon All

I said I’d try to get back on track, so here we are.

I’ve used the Mojo Monday sketch for this week as the base for my card layout and the “Born to Shop” range of papers and images.  They are a bit of fun and you can usually associate them with someone you know!  This one is for my sister-in-law.

I’ve used a variety of my nestabilities to cut out the different circles in the layout.  Getting quite a collection now, just purchased the new D-Lites from Create & Craft, so need to have a play with them next 🙂

Added a few extra’s to the design – the ribbon, hatpins, adhesive gems and the metal corner – just to girly it up even more!

Anyway, short and sweet, but need to crack on.

Back again soon

Good Morning All

Sorry it’s been a bit quiet on the blogging front, but I had an order to complete.

50 invitations for someone who is renewing their wedding vows in December.

You should, just about, be able to see from this picture, the design.  A very simple postcard type arrangement of white card layered onto black card, with a strip of black organsa ribbon down the left side and an double heart embellishment in the top left hand corner.

The embellishment is actually a cake decoration, which I snipped the back off to make it lie flat-ish on the card.  I must give my praise to “Party Kiosk” who I purchased them from, for a quick and efficient service.

They’re all done now, currently laid out on the dining room table to allow the glue to dry! 😉

Should now be able to spend the rest of the day playing with my new Spellbinder dies, and hopefully be back again soon with a card or two!
