travelGood Evening All

Today was our monthly crop day, and we had set ourselves the theme of travel – no particular reason why, just simply because 🙂

So, after some delving around the various boxes and drawers in my craft room, I found this rather appropriate kit from HunkyDory.  It has a steam punky, time and travel theme to it, with co-ordinating papers and die-cuts, so was just right for today.

I’ve used an A5 base card and just added some brown metallic card to mat and layer, everything else is out of the kit.  For the layout, I’ve followed this week’s Mojo Monday challenge and it all seemed to come together quite well this morning 🙂

Went a bit downhill after that! Only managed half a card, which I must go and finish this evening after my dinner, otherwise it’ll sit there for ages in the UFO pile 😀

So best crack on, but I’ll be back again soon

Merry Christmas 25/12/2013

Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas to you all 🙂

This is a card I made for a colleague at work, which I thought would make an appropriate post for today.  I also made it in a different colourway for my parents (green and gold), but forgot to take a photo of that one!

It’s an 8×8 card layered up with silver mirri board and white card.  The base layer is a silver and white polka dot design from Hunkydory and then the centre background piece has been embossed using a holly design A4 embossing folder.  My spellbinders have been used quite a bit on this, as you can see, creating the surround and the decoration.

The bauble (or booble – as my mother calls them 😀 ) has been cut out twice and using foam pads, made into a shaker section which I put some “snow” and “ice” into, which reveals the message behind – which I did on the computer.  I used white glitter card for the pine leaves, which looks quite effective in reality.  Then I added a triple bow and a very blingy gem.

Unfortunately I do have to work today, so I shall bid you all a Merry Christmas, and will hopefully be back again soon xxx

Thanks for stopping by

Rachel

sparkly sister 11/05/2013

Sparkly SisterGood Evening All,

Sorry for the lack of blogging, but seem to have had a bit of social life lately!  Very bizarre.

Anyhow, tonight’s card has been made using the current Mojo Monday Challenge layout and some inspiration from the ABC Challenge – Make it Sparkle and the fact that one of my colleagues needs a birthday card for her sister 🙂

I have used an A5 white card base which has been layered up with some silver mirri card and then some black and silver card and white and silver card from Hunkydory, (if my memory serves me well).  I’ve also used some black mirri to layer the circle sentiment on and to make the tab.

It doesn’t show up very well in the photo, but I stamped my sentiments onto white card and then covered them with micro beads, using double sided adhesive sheets and then to add even more sparkle I’ve placed a black dazzler on the “sister” sentiment.  I don’t think it needs anything else!

Well I shall no doubt be back again soon, thanks for dropping by

life is a journey 05/02/2013

life is a journeyGood Morning All

Been up since 5am for some reason – wide awake – really not a good idea! Not in work till later, so can see me snoozing as the day progresses.  Oh well 😛

Had a crafty evening though last night and produced this card, which is based on the current Mojo Monday layout and should fit in nicely with the current ABC Challenge, Cards for Men challenge, One Stop Craft Challenge and The Pink Elephant challenge.

It’s a 5×7 card and I’ve used some Polka Dot Parade paper from Stampin Up, which I have matted onto black card to give it definition as it’s a very strong red.  The sentiment is a stamp from a Hunkydory Golden Oldies set, which I haven’t had out of the packet before (how bad is that!) and the heart is a spellbinders die, which has been cut and then embossed.  I’ve added some bling and some faux stitching around the edge, although you can’t see that very well in this photo.

Well I need to go and iron my work blouse before I doze off, so I’ll be back again soon, hopefully with the second page of my calendar 🙂

sweet dreams 16/01/2013

Sweet DreamsGood Evening All

Tonight’s card was a quick and easy one, using Hunkydory products and the current Mojo Monday layout.  I’ve used an A5 white card base, onto which I have matted and layered some gold mirri card and three co-ordinating blue bits of card.  The image and its layers have been cut using my trusty nesties, and then raised up on foam pads.  I made a chocolate box bow (or at least that’s what I call it?) with the white ribbon just to finish it off.  Simples 🙂

It’s a possible option for a little boys 1st birthday.  I tend to make three cards for people to choose from, when I’m asked to make cards – don’t ask me why!  So I’ve had a crafty day today and stayed indoors where it’s warm and cosy.  Can you blame me when it’s -2/3oc outside?

Anyhow, that’s all for now, but I’ll be back again soon

Mother’s Birthday 09/12/2012

Mother's Birthday CardGood Evening All

Apologies for the lack of blogging for the last month, but I’ve had an operation on my left shoulder recently and bearing in mind I’m left handed, this has made crafting somewhat impossible, never mind anything else!  I’m slowly getting back to normal (whatever that is 😛 ) so this week I decided I ought to have a go at making my Mum’s birthday card.

I’ve gone for a vintage effect, as I decided to use this topper and backing card from Hunkydory’s Vintage Journey collection.  I’ve used a cream A5 card base and a layout from the DoCrafts website.  I’ve matted the backing card and the topper sections onto gold mirri card and then cut the “mother” word with cream card using my Heritage Cricut cartridge.  The cream lace ribbon is from Stampin Up and then the flourishes are a Marianne die and again have been cut in cream card.  To distress the cream card slightly I have used Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and my ink duster brushes, as this just takes away the crispness of the colour.

I think my Mum liked it?  She’s a crafter as well, so for her pressie I treated her to some Perfect Layer tools, which I hope she finds helpful.

Anyway, I’m still struggling a bit with my crafting, but hopefully will be back again soon 🙂
