Concertina Card 21/10/2013

Concertina CardGood Evening All

Well I’m back, had a great holiday 🙂 but OMG, back to reality now with an almighty bump 😦 so I really haven’t managed to do very much on the crafty front.

However, I went to one of my friend Sonia‘s workshops where she showed us how to create a concertina card for Christmas.  I tried it again at home and adapted it slightly so that I could come up with a wedding card, and this is the outcome.

Basically I kept it very simple using cream card and a coppery coloured card. I’ve used love heart dies from Stampin’ Up, as well as the Celtic knot and the Cherry Blossom dies from Spellbinders.  The letters were cut out on my Cricut using the Art Nouveau cartridge and each blossom has a tiny little gem in the centre, and that’s about it.

I’m struggling a little to get some quality crafting time at the moment, but I shall make every effort to get back on track and will hopefully be back again soon 🙂

my little star 21/06/2013

Filed under: Challenges,Cricut,Lily of the Valley — rachelscraftyfolder @ 2:08 pm

my little starWell hello everyone,

Apologies for not having blogged for absolutely ages but I’ve been rather busy decorating my kitchen and work is just silly at the moment.

Still, I have finally managed to make a card for the first time in weeks and here it is 🙂

The image is a very sweet pre-coloured one (a little bit of a cheat) from Lily of the Valley and I’ve selected papers from my stash which match in with her dress beautifully.

The stars have been cut using my Cricut and the George & Basic Shapes cartridge and the ribbon and bow are from Docrafts.

The layout of the card has once again, been provided by the current Mojo Monday challenge – I don’t know where I would be without this website 🙂

Anyway, much as I’d love to stay, work once again beckons.

But I will endeavour to be back again soon with another creation.

rock onGood Evening All

Another male card this evening, once again using the current Mojo Monday layout, which can be done either on a circle or a square.  I thought we’d have a change and go circle this time round.

So using my large circular nesties, I’ve cut the card base and layered this up with black and then the musical score card and some red card.

The central square has been cut and inked with fired brick distress ink and then layered onto black and silver card.  The images are all peel offs, which I’ve had for ages.

The guitar has been cut using my Cricut and the Indie Art cartridge, which I’ve then mounted onto foam squares to raise it off the card slightly.

The lightning strikes are also peel offs from the same sheet as the skull and cross bones.

I need this for my best friend’s sons birthday on Sunday and he’s well into his music, so should be appropriate for him 🙂

Anyway, that’s all for now, but I’ll be back again soon

my first digi stamp 10/08/2012

Good Evening All,

I know it’s been a while, but work has kinda taken over lately 😦  I have been making some cards, honestly,  but I just haven’t had the time to post.  Anyway, finally got a little of bit time this evening, so thought I’d best get on with it!

This is the first time I have used a digi stamp, and OMG aren’t they a brilliant idea.  I printed off quite a large image, and coloured it in with promarkers – very carefully coz I didn’t know whether they would bleed, but no, no problem at all.  Fantastic!  I made an 8×8 twisted easel card from some grey card stock, the check paper was in my stash, along with the black ribbon.  The star, “21” and “son” have been cut out using my cricut and the heart at the top is a peel off, which I’ve then cut round and used some black peel off letters to put in the words “you rock”.  The stopper for the easel is just a large brad, put through the ribbon with a peel off on top.

I am so impressed with the digi stamp, I bought four more 😀 !

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-

Crafty Catz – Anything Goes

Here Come The Boys – Boys Toys

Papertake Weekly – Anything Goes

Thanks for visiting and I promise I’ll be back again soon

Fathers Day 13/06/2012

Filed under: Cricut — rachelscraftyfolder @ 5:29 pm

Good Evening All,

Guess what I got the other day – the new Art Deco cricut cartridge, it’s fab 😀

We didn’t have a crop this week for one reason and another, so I spent most of Sunday playing around with the cartridge and seeing what I could do and these are the results.  All of which I decided to make into Father’s Day cards seeing as it’s only a few days away and the images are quite appropriate.

Still need to do a card for my own Dad though, I didn’t get that far!

Anyway, short and sweet as I’m off to Sonia’s for a class this evening, but thought I’d share this piccie before I go.

Back again soon

50 books… 10/06/2012

Good Morning All

And it’s a dry morning for a change!  There is even a bit of sun today 🙂

This is a card I was asked to make for a colleague of mine, for his wife’s 50th birthday.  He gave me the subject of books as she is an avid reader and told me her favourite colour was blue.  Well, I hunted through my stash but couldn’t really find anything appropriate, so I hit the web and ordered some Magnolia stamps from Sir Stampalot.  Have to say I was very impressed with their service, I received the order extremely quickly 😀

The base card is an 8×8 inch fold back, covered with blue card and some blue flowery paper from the Spice Cake range from Stampin Up.  The central image has been stamped and coloured in with Promarkers and then cut out so that I could sit Tilda on the large pile of books.  The text paper is from Basic Gray and the scalloped circle has been cut using a Marianne die.  The Happy Birthday was done on my trusty Cricut and the bow is made from some lovely lacey ribbon also from Stampin Up.

The pile of books on the right hand side of the card is one stamp, stamped several times and I counted out 50 books to correspond with her age.  These have also been coloured using Promarkers and then cut out.

I managed to find a lovely little poem about books on the web, (a very useful tool) which I printed out and used on the inside.

Anyway that’s all for now, but will be back again soon

Sunflowers 09/05/2012

Good Evening All,

I thought a cheery card was in order this evening, what with all this blooming rain!

I treated myself to a new set of dies from Nestabilities a couple of weeks ago and thought it was about time I had a play and see what transpired.  They are Shapeabilities Sunflowers 2 and I think they are absolutely fab 😀

I’ve just used some random yellow card from my stash, cut two of each layer and inked them up whilst they were in the die with some Scattered Straw distress ink.  The centre section I rubbed over a little with a file to rough it up a bit and it’s quite effective!

The background papers are from the Boofle Paper Pack from Docrafts and the “Happy Birthday” have been cut on my Cricut.

A very simple card but I was really quite chuffed with how the flowers have come out.  I’m going to try them in white as I think they may make a really lovely daisy.

So will be back again soon

Mother’s Day 18/03/2012

Good Afternoon All,

Well for my Mother’s Day creation, I decided to do something other than a card.  I saw this idea on Create and Craft recently – it’s a banner, which I thought my Mum could hang up in her craft room 🙂

I’ve used Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles to cut and emboss some cream coloured card, which I’ve then inked with Tattered Rose Distress Ink whilst the die was still in place.

The letters have been cut on my Cricut using the Art Noveau cartridge.  The flowers and the leaves are also Spellbinder dies, and I’ve centred the flowers with some cream coloured roses from the Hobby House.

I felt it needed a bit of bling, so I added some self adhesive clear gems in a swirly fashion, just to make it sparkle a bit!

I’ve attached the three rectangles together with some cream coloured rafia, which I’ve just threaded through the holes along  the top of each rectangle.  Just thought it would be nice to do something different for a change!

And I’m going to try and enter this into the following challenges:-

Moving Along with the Times – Special Lady

Papertake Weekly – One for the Girls

The Crafty Pad – The Perfect Pair

Anyway, enjoy Mother’s Day and I’ll be back again soon

commissions 12/02/2012

Good Evening All

Bit late tonight, was watching the Ice Skating!

Well this week I was commissioned to produce two cards for somewhat different ends of the age spectrum – a one year old and a forty year old.

Firstly, the card for the younger generation.  I am lucky enough to have a Cricut and a Winnie the Pooh cartridge – without it this card just would not be possible.  I am still amazed by how the Cricut cuts images out, and with a little bit of layering I can produce characters like this.  The base card is an 8×8 and then I’ve basically just used various bits and pieces of different coloured card to create the images with the help of the Cricut.

The slightly older generation card is for a lady who has horses, so the Rosette idea seemed quite appropriate.  I’ve used a Jolly Nation character on this one, with the matching backing paper.  The centre of the card has been cut out using a Go Kreate die and then I’ve layered behind with the red and the backing paper.  The rosette is made from two 5cm wide strips of the red paper, scored on the Hougie board and then stuck onto the back of the nestabilities circles, eventually (it was a bit temperamental!).  The Cricut came in handy again as I used my Art Noveau cartridge for the numbers on this one.

So there we go, just hope that both recipients like them?

Back again soon
